The photographs show the waste actuator cans and bracket from a turbocharger unit, attached to a vibration test jig which is in turn attached to the vibrator table. The wastegate on a turbocharger allows it to perform well at lower engine speeds, but at higher engine speeds the wastegate opens and prevents the turbo from generating excessive boost pressure which can cause engine fuel consumption and altitude rating to suffer.
The test we used on these brackets and actuators is a swept sine test over a range which encompasses those frequencies expected during normal engine operating conditions.
